Weight management
It can be used supportively within a comprehensive program of nutritional guidance, lifestyle and appropriate medical management. It is not a weight loss method in itself.

Medical acupuncture
It is performed as a medical procedure by a properly trained and certified physician.
The approach
Medical acupuncture is not an isolated technique. It is part of an overall care plan, with knowledge of the medical history and clear goals.
Application is preceded by a medical discussion, evaluation of indications and checking of possible contraindications. The number and frequency of sessions are determined individually.
Complementary use
Medical acupuncture can, after a medical evaluation, fit into a broader plan of care. Its application is personalized according to the reason for attending, the history and the goals of each person.
It can be used supportively within a comprehensive program of nutritional guidance, lifestyle and appropriate medical management. It is not a weight loss method in itself.
It can be used as an adjunct to and does not replace evidence-based smoking cessation interventions when indicated.
It can be integrated into a wider plan. Persistent or significant symptoms need appropriate evaluation.
In some people it can be used supportively. Persistent insomnia needs investigation into its cause.
It can be used adjunctively in selected cases, once the cause has been assessed and situations requiring different treatment have been ruled out.
In selected cases it can be included as a supplement, without replacing the necessary investigation of new or unusual symptoms.

Medical evaluation
It is not a substitute for diagnosis, medication or other appropriate treatment. Before the application, it is examined whether it is suitable for the specific case.
