CRP is a marker of inflammation. It can be increased in infections and many other conditions; it does not by itself indicate that there is a problem with the heart.
The highly sensitive measurement, hs-CRP, can be used selectively in cardiovascular risk assessment. It is not the same as a diagnosis of coronary artery disease.
The interpretation is done along with the history, any recent infection, symptoms and other risk factors. The doctor will judge whether a repeat or investigation is needed.
The information is general and is not a substitute for medical evaluation. Do not change your treatment without instructions. For urgent symptoms call 112 or 166.
