Cardiac troponins I and T are proteins that can increase in the blood when there is myocardial damage.
An increase does not automatically mean a heart attack. Correlation with symptoms, electrocardiogram and change of values in consecutive measurements is needed.
Troponin is used in specific clinical situations and is not a general screening test for everyone.
