World COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Day is observed every year on the 3rd Wednesday of November, to raise awareness of this serious lung disease that affects the breathing - and, often, the heart.
It is a lung condition that causes narrowing of the bronchi, gradually making breathing difficult. Its main cause remains smoking - active or passive.
H.A.P. it evolves "silently" for years, which is why early diagnosis is crucial.
But it doesn't just affect breathing. When the lungs struggle to deliver enough oxygen, the heart is forced to work harder—which over time increases cardiovascular risk.
If you have a cough, shortness of breath or get tired easily, talk to your doctor and have both your lungs and heart checked.
The information is general and is not a substitute for medical evaluation. Do not change your treatment without instructions. For urgent symptoms call 112 or 166.
